This was a slower tranche of spreadsheet work in the last few weeks, but some very useful modifications were done in the equipment rental and SaaS acquisition space. I was actually considering updating the base equipment rental model with this update, but I've chosen to only add it here for now.
Templates Added:
- Equipment Rental
- New tab for two types of one-time sales. By month, the user can now enter total purchases, units purchased, units sold, average sale price per unit. Non-cash COGS will calculate for property gross profit calculations.
- Added 50 more expense slots for the fixed costs section.
- For COGS, the calculation looks at 100% of purchases and units in order to derive the cost assigned as the units are sold. The schedule is monthly for maximum granularity of expected purchases and sales.
- Base Equipment Rental Model
- SaaS - Built from scratch.
- Bottom-up and top-down projection comparison for up to 5 years.
- Model retention of existing customers, their ARPU, and apply to new customers.
- 4 retention curves to toggle for new customers (two linear / two exponential decay)
- Bottom-up has assumptions for various expenses / CS / AEs, top-down lets the user define a percentage for COGS, sales and marketing, and other operating expenses.
- EBITDA Sensitivity - Built from scratch.
- A simpler model that has 36 periods. The user enters total revenue, cogs %, OPEX %, and sees the resulting EBITDA.
