What are important key metrics to track for a construction company or general contractor?

There are several key metrics that a construction company may want to track in order to measure its performance and identify areas for improvement. These can include:

Revenue: This is the total amount of money generated by the company through the sale of goods or services. Tracking revenue can help a construction company understand its financial health and identify trends over time.

Gross margin: This is the difference between the cost of goods sold and the selling price of the goods or services. A high gross margin indicates that the company is generating a good return on its investment in materials, labor, and other expenses.

Net profit: This is the company's total revenue minus all expenses, including taxes and interest. Tracking net profit can help a construction company understand how much money it is making (or losing) after all expenses have been accounted for.

Project profitability: It is important for a construction company to track the profitability of each project it completes. This can help the company understand which projects are the most profitable and identify areas for improvement.

Customer satisfaction: A construction company should track customer satisfaction to ensure that its clients are happy with the work it is doing. This can be measured through surveys or other methods.

Employee satisfaction: A construction company should also track employee satisfaction to ensure that its employees are happy and motivated. This can be measured through surveys or other methods.

Safety: A construction company should track safety metrics, such as the number of accidents and injuries on the job, to ensure that its employees are working in a safe environment.

Productivity: A construction company should track productivity to ensure that it is completing projects on time and within budget. This can be measured through various metrics, such as the number of hours worked, the amount of materials used, or the number of projects completed.
